In the latest in our series on the lovely people who work at ActiveQuote.com, we chat with senior complaints officer Cheyenne Morris about her role and all things Disney!
What did you study at University / what were your early career plans?
I didn’t attend university but completed sixth form in high school. I’ve been working full time since the age of 17, although I did go back to college to study maths again because I wasn’t happy with my GSCE result. I managed to get a grade higher, which is great. I also completed Chwarae Teg’s Agile Nation 2 programme last year, which I found really enjoyable and useful to me in my current role. When I was younger I wanted to become a forensic scientist, until I realised I wasn’t very good at science! I guess the next best thing was complaints handling!
What was your first job and what did you learn there?
My first full time job was working at Leekes of Llantrisant as a customer service assistant, in the DIY and decorating department. I thoroughly enjoyed it, particularly mixing the paint on the Dulux machine! I learnt that a glass hammer doesn’t actually exist and neither does tartan paint, apparently!
What’s the most horrible job you’ve had?
I can’t think of job that I found particularly horrible, but washing dishes in one job wasn’t great!
What is your role at ActiveQuote?
As senior complaints officer at ActiveQuote, I’m responsible for investigating complaints and providing a fair resolution based on my findings. I’ve learnt a number of different things since joining the company in 2014. I started here at the age of 24 and now I’m nearly 28; in the last four years I’ve matured as a person and gained a lot of experience in dealing with different types of people. I have learned that everyone is different and every single person in the company has a vital part to play in order for the business to continue to develop and be successful. We pride ourselves on providing a great customer service journey from the start and are always open to feedback to help improve our processes.
What are your plans for the future?
I really enjoy working at ActiveQuote and would love to progress within my career here. I have been part of this company for three and a half years and, in that time, I’ve seen it grow and thrive enormously. I would love to continue to develop and hopefully to help develop others one day.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at work?
I enjoy going to see the cinema and am quite partial to Jack Daniels chicken strips at TGI’s with a California rose wine! I also volunteer for Friends of the Animals Wales, where I enjoy walking the dogs.
Tell us something we probably don’t know about you
Everyone I know already knows this, but I have a huge obsession for Disney and dogs - I’m talking an unhealthy obsession! I got engaged in Walt Disney World in front of Cinderella’s castle; it was a dream come true! And something not everyone knows is that I write weekly blogs in relation to my health and fitness journey that I started in January this year. It’s personal to me and it’s a way of reflecting back at the end of the year to see how far I have come. Have a read!
