After a successful Welsh Three Peaks Challenge in 2022, our charity champions set about organising another. This time the challenge would be to take on the Yorkshire Three Peaks in July 2024, with all proceeds raised going to our 2024 Charity Partner Velindre Cancer Centre.

So, with the Just Giving page set up, the accommodation secured and the training underway, those who signed up were ready and eager to go.

On Friday 12th July 17 ActiveQuote members made the long journey up north to their accommodation ‘The Old School Bunkhouse’, which was situated on the trek itself making it perfect for the challenge at hand.

The challenge was completed in an anti-clockwise direction as advised by the many online videos viewed, meaning they would tackle Ingleborough first, Pen Y Ghent and then Whernside. And while the same videos did say the challenge is tough and that preparation was key, those who took part have said how hard it really was. The mountains alone were an achievement in themselves, but the 4.5-mile trek from the first to the second mountain, and the 10-mile trek from the second to the third added that extra difficulty to the day.

New friendships were formed, tears were shed and lots of selfies were taken, along with a few blisters, swollen feet and promises of never wanting to see another mountain again, but all who took part felt proud of their achievements and so they should.

Well-done to Rod, Nigel, Tracy, Cheyenne, Sarah, Hannah, Chaniece, Aimee, Gino, Charlie, Henry, Howard, Adam, Darren, Eleni, Jordan, and Rob Saunders for their efforts and achievements. You did us and yourselves proud!

And because of your monumental efforts, you collectively managed to raise over £3,000 for our 2024 Charity Partner Velindre.

A huge thanks to Nigel for taking on the responsibility of driving everyone up and back safely, and to Tracy who arranged the whole event, which was once again another huge success.

Well-done all – You’re all amazing!
