On Wednesday 10th July 2024 we hosted our 3rd Charity Golf Day at the Celtic Manor Resort, Newport in aid of Velindre Cancer Centre.

With the ActiveQuote flag flying proud above the club house and the weather gods on our side, we were certain that it was going to be another successful event and we were not wrong.

Our sponsors, players, and guests arrived early and enjoyed some time net-working, had a little bite to eat and a hot drink, before making their way to the 18th hole for what proved to be a great start to the day's events. David Edwards is a former European Tour Professional, but who now performs his amazing golf trick show all around the world, and today the 18th hole of the Roman Roads course at the Celtic Manor Resort was his stage. David did not disappoint as he shared valuable advice, a couple of golf stories, and impersonated a few of the world's most famous golfers, followed by some very funny moments where he put a few of our golfers through their paces. There were lots of laughs, a few gasps, and a lot of clapping.

So, with everyone warmed up and eager to go, each team made their way to their starting holes in readiness for the shot gun start. Overall, spirits were high, the golfers were on form and the greens were in excellent condition. Many of these moments were captured on film and can be seen by checking out our Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn pages.

On finishing their round of golf everyone made their way to the marquee where they were served a delicious two-course meal. Just after food David Edwards took to the mic and became our master of ceremony and proceeded to play a 20-minute video he had pulled together while driving around the golf course capturing some magical moments, which captured the day perfectly!

Rob Saunders then took to the floor and thanked the event sponsors Iress, Pure Cyber, Bupa and Vitality. He also went on to thank Freedom, Aviva, Yolk, National Friendly, Towergate, AmTrust, Allianceipos and The Exeter for entering a team, and Cirencester for their donation. It was then over to Tracy Carwardine who explained in more detail about ActiveQuote's efforts in raising money for Velindre, and more importantly why Velindre was chosen as this year's charity partner.

Last but by no means least, Rod presented the days winners with their prizes and the raffle was drawn, and before we knew it the day was complete.

All in all, a great day was had by all, with many already looking forward to next year's golf day. And with the event raising over £3k for Velindre, it was well and truly the success we hoped it would be and always promises to be.

We would lastly like to thank the events team here at ActiveQuote who without, this day would not have been the success that it was.

Thank you!
