Meet the team: Rod Jones

Our Head of Partnerships, Rod Jones, is new to our team, but not to the world of insurance, having come to us via uSwitch and GoCompare.com. In our last staff spotlight of 2018, we find out how he’s settling in - and his all-important plans for Christmas!

How long have you been at AQ and what does your role involve?

I joined the team on October 1, so I’ve been here 10 weeks now. As Head of Partnerships, I want to help educate consumers around the different types of insurance products, such as life insurance, health insurance and income protection, and to make sure they are making an informed decision to protect themselves and their loved ones.

What did you want to be when you were at school?

I always enjoyed business and IT at school, and I also had a part time job at Howells in Cardiff, hence the interest in retail.

What did you study at university and what came next?

I went to University of Glamorgan and studied Business Studies. After that I joined the graduate scheme at M&S. During my time there I had to manage the lingerie department, which was a bit strange!

What do you like about working at ActiveQuote?

Before coming to ActiveQuote, I spent the last five years at uSwitch, which was part of Zoopla. I commuted to London every week - to be fair, working in London is very different to working in Cardiff! Apart from not having to wake up 4.10am to commute, I really like the culture at ActiveQuote, which is about working together and ensuring we do the right thing for the customer.

What are your plans for Christmas?

Christmas will be spent at home with the family, while New Year will be away enjoying a break in the snow.

Have you started your Christmas shopping yet?

I wish! Thankfully Mrs. Jones is amazing at Christmas and takes a lot of the stress away from me.
