Comparison website and insurance broker ActiveQuote.com wins a place on the league table of Britain’s fastest-growing tech firms.
ActiveQuote is the only Welsh company to feature in the league table, securing 84th position, a vindication of the vision and commitment of the founders of the business, as well as the 110 staff it now employs.
Managing Director and serial entrepreneur Dr Richard Theo started the business in 2009 using his own money before securing £1m from 16 business angels in 2014. On receiving the news, Richard commented ‘We’re thrilled to feature in the Tech Track 100. This award is firm recognition of the fantastic team of people we have at ActiveQuote, all 110 of us. We’re immensely proud of our Welsh roots, and we remain committed to growing our successful business in Wales.”
Nearly one third of the companies on the league table were founded by serial entrepreneurs, who have started at least one other business. Dr Theo’s enthusiasm and passion has driven him to establish and grow a string of successful technology-based start-up companies, including SoftSwift and Avantis Systems Ltd. Richard’s latest venture, Wealthify, is already enjoying success as a new breed of ‘robo’ investment services, making investment accessible to everyone.
Steve Langan, CEO of Hiscox Insurance Company, commented:
“The Sunday Times Hiscox Tech Track 100 never fails to impress and this year is no different. We are proud to be associated with it, not least as we support more than 40,000 technology companies across the UK and Ireland and see first-hand their tenacity and infectious ambition. Congratulations to all of those listed this year –the growth and innovation they demonstrate is highly commendable.”
