Bupa launches employee healthcare plan

Private medical cover provider Bupa has launched a new health insurance plan for employees.

The tiered cash plan, called Cash Plan Fundamentals, offers employers the chance to provide different levels of cover to different employees within their organisation.

Employees can claim back up to £2,295 a year towards the cost of their everyday healthcare expenses under a three-tiered system starting at just £1 per employee per week.

Up to £200 a year will be provided for optical care, £200 a year for dental treatment and up to £400 a year for consultations, scans and diagnostic tests for employees.

A further £45 a year will be on offer for prescriptions and £300 a year for medical appliances, such as the use of a wheelchair, reports FTAdviser.com


All levels of cover come with access to a 24-hour helpline, while the plan can also be extended to cover employees' families for as little as £1 per week extra.

Emma Exelby, sales manager at Bupa cash plan, told the news provider: "As well as appealing to employees, this product also helps employers to meet some of their duty of care requirements with our optical benefit which offers cash back for sight tests, glasses and contact lenses."

A recent Bupa survey revealed that 67 per cent of people continue to go into work when they are unwell.
