ActiveQuote are looking to expand their Development team in Cardiff due to continued success and ambitious plans to deliver several new projects in 2016. This opportunity is for a talented and enthusiastic Front End Developer to join our existing team in delivering cutting edge web applications.


Job Scope

Reporting to the Development Manager, the Front End Developer will work with the development team designing, building and developing new front-end projects, customer-facing sites and build systems, as well as improving existing products under the guidance of the senior front end developer.


Responsibilities and Duties

Working within a scrum team, you will be leading the front end development for a range of cutting-edge software services. You will work with HTML5, CSS3 (SASS) and JavaScript on a daily basis. We’re not looking for experts in JavaScript frameworks, but some exposure to them, especially angular, would be beneficial. Experience of Visual Studio & MVC would also be beneficial as you’ll be working in a team with .NET C# developers. You will be joining a close-knit and growing team of developers working to Agile/Scrum methodologies.


Education, Qualifications & Training

  • Certified Scrum Master (desirable)

Previous Experience
  • Experience of creating user friendly wireframes, designing and creating functional, responsive websites
  • Working within an agile environment (desirable)

Knowledge
  • Experience creating fully functioning front end templates from Photoshop or wireframe designs
  • SASS/SCSS
  • HTML5 / CSS3 / Javascript/jQuery
  • Experience with JavaScript frameworks (preferably Angular2)
  • Experience with Node & Gulp (desirable)
  • Exposure of Visual Studio as you’ll be working in a team with .NET MVC C# developers
  • Experience working with CSS Grid system like Bootstrap or similar
  • Use of Wireframing / Prototyping tools
  • Experience of Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator
  • An understanding of UX and UI design
  • Mobile application development (desirable)
  • Experience using CMS (Preferably Umbraco)

Competencies
  • Creative, highly organised, able to manage deadlines
  • A desire to keep up to date with the latest advances in front end development and design
  • Knowledge of current web trends and best practices.

Specific requirements for the role
  • Salary, up to £35k (depending on experience)
  • 37.5 hours a week, 9am – 5.30pm Monday to Friday
  • 30 days holiday, inclusive of bank holidays

Job Scope

Reporting to the Development Manager, the Senior Developer will work with the development team architecting and developing new products, and improving existing products using the .NET Framework.

The ideal candidate will have a mixture of both back end and front end web development experience gained using a range of .Net related technologies gained within an Agile/Scrum environment.

The Senior Developer will undertake a hands-on development role whilst mentoring less experienced members of the team, leading technical discussions and providing technical leadership.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Show leadership and experience in architecting solutions that meet the needs of the business
  • Full stack development – from using front end technologies like AngularJS to database technologies such as SQL Server and everything in between – MVC, Web API, WCF
  • Technical point of contact for the team
  • Demonstrate an interest in coding standards and champion best practice
  • Ensure code quality is met through participating in code reviews and testing frameworks
  • Develop new products and add features to existing .NET applications
  • Develop MVC and Web Forms applications
  • Develop HTML/CSS/JavaScript in accordance with style guides and pattern libraries
  • Develop Web Services/APIs
  • Maintain existing applications
  • Diagnose and fix bugs
  • Produce clear and concise documentation when required

Education, Qualifications & Training
  • Degree educated in Computer Science, Mathematics or relevant field (desirable)
