Health Insurance Company Overview
Saga is a well-respected company, which has been specialising in serving the needs of the over 50s for more than 60 years and it has been providing private health insurance for nearly 25 of them. As well as health insurance, Saga offers a wide range of other insurance products, like motor, home and travel insurance. Saga’s health insurance policies are underwritten by AXA PPP healthcare.
Health Insurance Plans
Saga Health Insurance offers a choice of five HealthPlans, all providing cover for hospital in-patient and day-patient treatment and care. As well as prompt access to treatment and a choice of over 450 hospitals and scanning centres, all HealthPlans also provide a 24-hour telephone health information service staffed by medical professionals.
You may be able to switch to a Saga HealthPlan, and still receive cover for pre-existing conditions you already have and that you’ve claimed for in the past, subject to your recent medical and claims history and the terms and conditions of the new policy.
HealthPlan Super is a ‘top of the range’ plan for those wanting the reassurance of comprehensive cover. It provides full cover for eligible in-patient and day-patient treatment and offers unlimited cover for eligible out-patient treatment including consultations, scans, diagnostic tests and physiotherapy. It also covers complementary therapies such as homeopathy and osteopathy, the use of a private ambulance, home nursing, recuperative care and even assistance towards some major dental work.
HealthPlan Secure provides full cover for prompt access to eligible in-patient and day-patient treatment. It offers unlimited cover for CT, MRI and PET scans, and also provides up to £1,200 for out-patient consultations and diagnostic tests, as well as up to £400 towards post-operative physiotherapy and complementary therapies.
HealthPlan Saver Plus
HealthPlan Saver Plus, Saga’s newest plan, provides all round cover for private hospital care. It includes full cover for in-patient and day-patient treatment and £500 for out-patient treatments including consultations and diagnostic tests. One scan is covered, plus unlimited follow-up scans within 8 months of related in-patient or day-patient treatment.
HealthPlan Saver is a low cost plan, which provides full cover for in-patient and day-patient treatment, and provides £500 out-patient cover when it either precedes, or follows hospital related treatment within 8 months. You can also receive one scan before, and unlimited scans following within 8 months of, eligible in-patient treatment.
HealthPlan Support keeps premiums as low as possible by concentrating on the hospital treatment. To make Saga HealthPlan Support even more affordable, it covers only the surgery aspects of cancer treatment. All other aspects including chemotherapy would need to be treated on the NHS.
