What is the minimum acceptable age at commencement when applying for Legal & General Level Term Assurance?

The minimum age at outset is 18 attained. If the policy is for someone under the age of 18 then it must be taken out in trust by someone over the age of 18.

 

What is the maximum age attained at commencement of insured for Legal & General Level Term Assurance?

The maximum age at entry is 77 attained.
The Level Term Assurance Plan has a minimum term of 1 year, and the plan must end before age 80.
If a one year term is chosen, terminal illness cover does not apply.

 

What is the minimum policy term for Legal & General Level Term Assurance?

The minimum term for plans with just Life Cover is 1 year. The minimum term for plans including Critical Illness Cover is 2 years. Where the sum assured is decreasing, the minimum term is 5 years for all cover types.



What is the minimum sum assured for Legal & General Level Term Assurance?

There is no minimum sum assured - this is subject to the minimum premium.

 

What is the maximum sum assured for life cover only and where accelerated CIC is included for Legal & General Level Term Assurance?

There is no maximum sum assured for life cover only. Sums assured above £5,000,000 will be subject to reassurance.

 

Is there an additional critical illness cover for Legal & General Level Term Assurance?

Critical illness is available as a stand-alone benefit within the plan.
If you choose to add critical illness cover alongside your life insurance as a separate policy (also referred to as additional or independent critical illness cover), you will be covered if before the end of the policy: You are diagnosed with or undergo a medical procedure for one of the critical illnesses we cover and you survive for 14 days from diagnosis. We'll pay out your amount of cover in full once. After this happens, the policy will end and you'll no longer have any cover.



What is the minimum acceptable monthly premium for Legal & General Level Term Assurance?

The minimum monthly premium is £6.00.


What are the additional benefits with Legal & General Level Term Assurance?


a. Benefit enhanced on accident or accidental death

An accident hospitalisation benefit is available on plans that include Critical Illness Cover.

 

b. Accident hospitalisation benefit

We will pay £5,000 if the life assured is admitted to hospital with physical injuries for a minimum of 28 consecutive days immediately following an accident. Physical injury must have resulted solely and directly from unforeseen, external, violent and visible means and must be independent from any other cause.
We will only pay one claim in respect of each life assured. This benefit is not payable if a valid claim has been made for

  • A terminal illness
  • A critical illness

Legal and General will provide the following additional benefits if children's critical illness cover is shown as included in the policy schedule:


c. Child accident hospitalisation benefit

Legal and General will pay £5,000 if a relevant child is admitted to hospital with physical injuries for a minimum of 28 consecutive days immediately following an accident. Physical injury must have resulted solely and directly from unforeseen, external, violent and visible means and must be independent from any other cause.
We will only pay this benefit if the accident doesn't result in us paying out under Children's Critical Illness Cover as described in section 3.2.3.

Legal and General will only pay one claim per relevant child, to a maximum of two relevant children. If the same relevant child is covered by more than one policy issued by us, we will pay a maximum of £10,000 for that relevant child under this benefit.
Accidental death benefit is available during underwriting, providing "free cover" during this period. Please see "free cover during underwriting" section for details.

Other benefits – Also the following is available:


a. Child Funeral Benefit

On the death of a relevant child, we will contribute £4,000 towards their funeral.
Up to a maximum of two claims per policy. We will not pay the claim if:
The child's condition was present at birth
The cause of death first arose before the child was covered
We have paid a children's critical illness claim for the relevant child.

 

b. Childcare Benefit

If we have paid a claim for critical illness under this policy, and you have a natural child, legally adopted child or step-child under 5 years old, we will pay up to £1,000 towards childcare with a registered childminder whilst you recover.
The payment will be made on acceptance of a receipt or proof of payment from the registered Childminder.

 

c. Family Accommodation Benefit

For every night a relevant child spends in hospital, in the three months immediately following diagnosis of one of the critical illnesses covered in section 2.2.3 we will pay you £100 per night up to a maximum of £1,000.

What are the exclusions applicable to critical illness cover with Legal & General Level Term Assurance?

There is one exclusion for critical illness cover. The alcohol or drug abuse exclusion is limited to a specified number of conditions.


Alcohol or drug intake

The alcohol or drug intake exclusion is limited to the following specified number of conditions:

  • Cardiac Arrest secondary to illegal drug intake
  • Cardiomyopathy secondary to alcohol or drug intake
  • Coma secondary to alcohol or drug intake
  • Dementia secondary to alcohol or drug intake
  • HIV infection resulting from sexual activity or drug intake
  • Liver disease secondary to alcohol or drug intake

 

Would I be excluded from Legal & General Level Term Assurance if-

  1. I worked in armed force - No
  2. I Had pre-existing condition – Pre-existing conditions are not excluded in respect of the main policy benefits,but are excluded in respect of children's cover.

 

Pre-existing conditions - A claim will not be paid if the symptoms arose before the child was covered under the plan.
