What are the minimum and maximum acceptable age at commencement when applying for Aviva Life Insurance + Upgraded?
You can apply if you're a permanent resident of the UK, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man or Gibraltar
- aged between 18 and 89 for life cover only
- aged between 18 and 64 for life cover with waiver of premium, conversion option or renewal option
- aged between 18 and 64 for life and critical illness cover
- aged between 18 and 59 for life and critical illness cover with the renewal option (only available with guaranteed premiums) or the fracture cover option
- aged between 18 and 74 for global treatment
- aged between 18 and 85 for increasing cover.

The policy can last between one and 50 years.

What are the additional benefits with Aviva Life Insurance + Upgraded?
Fracture Cover – Fracture cover is available at an extra cost and is available if it hasn't already been included on any other policy that you have taken out with Aviva. However, please note that you can add it if you already have fracture cover on an existing policy with Friends Life and Pensions Limited.
If you have a joint policy, you can add fracture cover for one or both people covered.
If you choose fracture cover, Aviva will pay a lump sum, if you suffer one of 18 specified fractures during any 12 month period, Aviva will pay one successful claim each year.
You can make a claim for fracture cover at the same time as you're claiming for any other benefit under the policy.
Aviva won't pay a claim for a fracture that happens within the first seven days after the policy start date.
Aviva also won't pay a claim for a fracture that happens when taking part in mountain biking or BMX; boxing, cage fighting or martial arts; rugby or Gaelic football; horse riding; or motorcycle sport. Other benefits – Hospital benefit
Aviva will pay this benefit if the life covered is in hospital for more than seven consecutive nights. Aviva pays it from the eighth night's stay; Aviva won't pay for the first seven nights.
This benefit will apply for each life covered under the policy.
Aviva will pay £100 a night for a maximum of 30 nights.
The time in a hospital could either be for one period or multiple shorter periods over the policy term.
Children's hospital benefit
Aviva will pay this benefit if a child is in hospital for more than seven consecutive nights. Aviva pays it from the eighth night's stay; Aviva won't pay for the previous seven nights.
Aviva won't pay if the stay in hospital is due to the child being born prematurely (before the 37th week of pregnancy).
This benefit will apply for each child under the policy.
Aviva will pay £100 a night for a maximum of 30 nights for each child.
The time in a hospital could either be for one period or multiple shorter periods over the policy term.
Children's death benefit
If any of your children die during the policy term, Aviva will pay £5,000. We'll pay the children's death benefit on top of any other payment we make for upgraded children's benefit.
For children's death benefit, children are covered from 24 weeks of pregnancy until their 22nd birthday.
