What is the minimum acceptable age at commencement when applying for Aegon Personal Protection?

The minimum age at entry is 18 attained.

 

What is the maximum age attained at the commencement of insured for Aegon Personal Protection?

The maximum age at entry for life protection is 83 attained.

Where critical illness is added or is stand-alone the maximum age attained is 74 for reviewable rates.

 

What is the minimum policy term for Aegon Personal Protection?

The minimum term for pure life cover is 1 year; the minimum term for life and accelerated critical illness cover is 5 years.

 

What is the minimum sum assured for Aegon Personal Protection?

There is no minimum sum assured. This is determined by the minimum premium.

 

What is the maximum sum assured for life cover only and where accelerated CIC is included for Aegon Personal Protection?

There is no maximum sum assured for life cover.

Where critical illness is added the maximum sum assured is £3,000,000.

 

Is there an additional critical illness cover for Aegon Personal Protection?

Critical illness benefit is available on a stand-alone basis as part of the menu of options.

 

What is the minimum acceptable monthly premium for Aegon Personal Protection?

The minimum monthly premium is £5.00.

Accident, sickness and unemployment cover is not an option on this policy.

 

What are the additional benefits with Aegon Personal Protection?

Fracture Cover – Critical fracture cover - of specified bones

Aegon will pay an additional benefit amount of £1,500 on one occasion for each life assured if, due to an accident, the life assured suffers a fracture of any of the following bones: 

  • The portion of the skull enclosing the brain (neurocranium)
  • Pelvis
  • Cervical spine (the neck)

 For the above definition, the following fractures aren't covered: 

  • Fractures of the facial bones (viscerocranium)
  • Fractures of the coccyx (tail bone)
  • Stress fractures, this includes both fatigue fractures and insufficiency fractures
  • Pathological fractures

Donor Cover - We will pay one cash lump sum of £2,500 in the event that the insured person undergoes a living donation of one of the following organs to a family member: 

  • kidney
  • portion of liver
  • portion of lung

Bone marrow transplant is also covered if the recipient has undergone pre-conditioning with myeloablative chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy. 

For the above definition, the following are not covered:

  • stem cell donation
  • islet cell donation
  • donation of any other organ or tissue

 In addition, the recipient must not have been suffering with any symptoms or any illness whether diagnosed or not, leading to the donation, before the policy start date.

 

Other Benefits - Benefits in Relation to Children - We'll pay £5,000 on the death of any child of an insured person in recognition of the financial impact of the child's death on the insured person.

 

Sum Assured in Instalments - Where a benefit amount is payable by a single lump-sum payment, we may agree to pay it in instalments instead.

 

Large Case Discount Available - 'Aegon can apply a discretionary discount in the form of a price match. This applies on a case-by-case basis and is subject to the approval of sales management.'

 

What is the total number of critical illnesses conditions covered by Aegon Personal Protection?

There are 62 critical illness conditions covered.

 

What are the exclusions applicable to critical illness cover with Aegon Personal Protection? 

There are 2 critical illness exclusions. Alcohol or drug abuse, which only applies to a limited number of conditions, and self-inflicted injury which only applies to loss of hand or foot and removal of an eyeball due to injury or disease.

 

Would I be excluded from Aegon Personal Protection if

I worked in armed force - There is no armed forces exclusion.

Had a pre-existing condition - Pre-existing conditions are not excluded in respect of the main policy benefits, but are excluded in respect of children's cover.
