WPA (Western Provident Association) now offers moratorium underwriting on its Flexible Health range for individual customers.
Customers could previously only take out a policy with WPA with full medical underwriting. But with WPA’s new moratorium option customers will not need to fill in a medical history declaration on application.
To be eligible for moratorium underwriting the applicant must not been diagnosed with heart disease, stroke, diabetes, cancer or undergoing regular screening for cancer owing to family history, nor had a surgical procedure/arthroscopy for a joint or back condition.
Applicants must also be over 18 and have a Body Mass Index (BMI) between 19 and 32.
If these conditions are satisfied then WPA will apply an automatic exclusion to any conditions suffered in the previous five years, which will then be removed if you do not suffer them again within the first two years of the policy. For more information on moratorium policies take a look at our page on pre-existing conditions.
The underwriting option is available on WPA’s Flexible Health range, including essentials, premier and elite.
