Simplyhealth purchases Denplan from AXA

Published on 20/12/2011

Simplyhealth has announced its latest acquisition with the purchase of Denplan from AXA.

Denplan, a dental payment plan provider, has been sold to Simplyhealth for a price of £115m on a debt-free cash free basis.

The deal marks the latest in a series of acquisitions for Simplyhealth. Earlier this year, the company announced its proposed acquisition of Groupama healthcare.

Simplyhealth CEO Des Benjamin said: "Our goal is to become an important, high quality part of the new health system as it emerges over the next few years and offer greater value to our customers and communities.

The acquisition of Denplan is an important step on this journey."

AXA said it sold Denplan in order to focus on providing private medical insurance and associated services to businesses and individuals. AXA is expecting to complete the acquisition of Health-on-Line during the first quarter of 2012.
