Bupa International has announced the appointment of Alistair How as its new managing director.
The health insurer has selected the former director of strategic planning at Reuters to succeed Keith Biddlestone, who is retiring from the role after 25 years.
With experience managing over 300
Bupa care homes around the UK in his former post at the company, Mr How is also expected to bring his varied knowledge of international markets to the post.
Bupa's chief executive Ray King commented: "Alistair's extensive experience in international businesses equip him well to lead
Bupa International in the next stage of its development.
"Keith has had a long and successful career with
Bupa and, for the last four years, has led
Bupa International through a sustained period of growth. We wish him well in retirement."
The company has provided expatriate health insurance for almost 40 years and serves more than 800,000 customers in 190 countries.
Last month,
Bupa was named the Best International
Medical Insurance Provider for the fourth consecutive year at the 2009 Health Insurance Awards.
