Bupa health insurance plans to be offered by Legal and General

Published on 13/04/2010
Legal & General has entered a strategic partnership with health insurance provider Bupa to offer its clients medical cover.

As a result of the move, the investment and insurance firm will sell Bupa's ClientChoice product, which offers a no-claims discount and three levels of protection alongside a range of underwriting options.

Gary Burchett, managing director of housing at Legal & General, said: "It's a natural next step to allow advisers to sell medical insurance and there are significant opportunities here for intermediaries to expand their revenue streams."

He added that a new product is an ideal reason for advisers to talk to existing customers about new opportunities and also means a more complete service for consumers.

Medical insurance advisers will be given training and guidance to add Bupa health cover to the range of services they offer.

Bupa health insurance plans provide access to medical treatment, more than 400 hospitals, a range of drugs and a 24-hour nurse healthline.
