Met Office issues heat health warning

Published on 27/06/2009
Judges at Manchester Crown Court have found a 15-year-old boy guilty of a toddler's murder.

Karl McCluney, who was babysitting two-year-old Demi Leigh Mahon in July last year, admitted manslaughter.

The court heard that McCluney was asked to look after the child by her mother Ann Marie McDonald who left the house to collect a benefits cheque.

During her mother's absence, he took the child to a park before returning to the house where he attacked her after apparently becoming fed up of her behaviour.

The baby suffered 68 injuries from repeated punches that left her with brain damage and a part of her scalp being sheared off.

The teenager from Eccles will be sentenced on July 31st.
