Mumps, similar to measles and rubella, has decreased in our population since the introduction of the MMR - measles, mumps & rubella - vaccination was introduced in 1988. It is spread through saliva or droplets and targets the glands first. Glands are often swollen and tender, and you are infectious for 5-7 days.
